Final Statement of Intent

My music video is called ‘The Puppet master’. It is a story of the struggle between the individual and society. Society wanting to control the individual and the individual wanting to control themself. My artist name is Nemesis. In the video she represents the individual whose societal puppet is controlled by the hand of society. The only way she can beat it, is by expressing herself through music, Only when she plays, the hand has no power over her. I chose the genre ‘Anthem’ as my inspiration. I define ‘anthem’ as  something that could be used as a symbol for a distinct group. It should be inspirational, speak for someone, uplifting, something with a deep message, but also something that one can dance on. My video concept is all about this. I want to inspire people to think for themselves, realise more the unconscious control and find your voice. This is not a protest video, because with this I am not protesting against society, I am encouraging the individual. My record company Sony, always gone it own way. Its core value is:  Pioneer the future with dreams and curiosity and Fulfil our stakeholder responsibilities through disciplined business practices.” Telling  my personal story, through the performance of Nemesis, I  hope to create a save space for anyone going through similar struggle. I will film all the footage in my daily and personal space, so that the personal story shines through, which will also add to the representation of individual, personal struggles.  This collides perfectly with my story and the genre.

In the editing,  lighting and colour I want to create the despair of not being able to be yourself or being out on control. For example having a bit more darker lighting, no bright colour. Through editing a bit more slow paces, I want to represent the mental slump, that form in ones mind when not being proactive in their own life.

on a music artists website there are usually navigation features, a web banner and multimedia features. I am going to use these things to create a theme and to organise my website, so all the information is easy to find and pleasant to look at. I will design my website in an organised way, so that the attention of the audience goes to what is on the website and not to the struggles of trying to find information. By using  black and white, brown and dark red colours, It will represent the intensity, despair and also hope of my story. There is also going to be an emphasis on the cello, which has a key role in my video. My audience consists of people who understand the struggles and love classical instruments, so these colours and cellos are attractive for them. In addition to that, a behind the scenes/making of video will be included, which I think my audience would find also an attractive addition to my website. There will be many pictures, from scenes and the making of, around the website to keep the audience interested and on the pages. At the bottom there will be a logo of Sony, my record company and a link to their website, for anyone who would like more information on Sony.

My website will have three pages. The homepage,’ Puppet master’, on which the story will be explained and ‘Nemesis’ , which will be about the artist. On every page a Cullum, with links to my artists social media, will be included. In that way all her platform are easily accessible for everyone. The social media itself will contain posts of moral questions related to society, have regular life streams. This will allow the audience to interact and for it to create a save space, as well as a promotion of my artist.

Synergy and branding is important for media industries, because with these tools people will know what is out there and what has been created. If they don’t use enough synergy and branding, not enough people will know their product exist and even less people will actually consume it.

I am going to use images, logos, typefaces and colours in the theme of the story. Hopefully in this way, people who visit my website will get a fair idea, about the story of my music video without hem actually having seen it. The themes of the music video are supposed to intertwine with the website and blend together. There will be a page on the artist, with her history and facts. This will not necessarily contain content of the music video. I have made this choice, so that more people can connect with her products and experience it on a deeper level. Social media will contain subtle bits of synergy in the posts, so that the name of the record company gets out in a positive way. There will for example be backstage pictures or videos, in that way the music video, artist and record company gets promoted and people who find it interesting are more likely to also consume the artist product.

There will be shots of instruments also playing an important role, by going against those people in power, like the cello, violin, piano, etc. Which will aline with the song. Also will there be acient roman and greek refrenses, through shots with pillars and acient building. There is a heavy emphesis on telling a story and not making a random video, with a random song.
